Author's Note: This post is now somewhat out of date, since we are no longer using Virtual Kubelet inside SimKube, but instead using Kubernetes WithOut Kubelet (KWOK). KWOK turns out to be somewhat more efficient than VK at large scale, and is a bit more full-featured for our purposes. I'm leaving this post up for posterity, but may write a follow-up in the future describing how we work with KWOK.
